Speck in Eye
Anthony had something in his eye that took some time to remove because it was so small. Later, he was still appreciating how good he felt because that speck was no longer there. Then we both remembered this verse in the Bible:
3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, Let me remove the speck from your eye; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. Matthew 7:2 NKJV

Adventures of Anthony - RACCOON!
Friday, we were at our cabin in Sevierville, TN. Mike & Bill Adkins had gone to Chattanooga to pick up a couple of ice cream machines for the new Sundae’s. We planned to leave just as they got back- to go to Dollywood. To save time, Anthony came down to the truck to eat the pizza they left in Ralph Morgan’s borrowed truck. We were upstairs in the cabin, about to come down.
Suddenly, Anthony ran in saying, “There’s a raccoon in the truck!” While he was eating (& watching a DVD) he looked up to see a raccoon sitting on the middle console. (Mike had left the front door open because we were coming right down.) Anthony thought at first his dad had put a Davy Crocket coonskin cap there to scare him. THEN the raccoon looked up at him with his big brown eyes. And Anthony - also seeing the raccoon’s claws stretched out on the console - took off running!
We ran downstairs, broom in hand, to chase the raccoon out of the truck.
Mike cleaned the pizza-stained seat, and Bill kindly shared his pizza with Anthony. The pictures are the raccoon enjoying the rest of the pizza!

Spring
Spring is when Mother Nature is menopausal!
She has a hot flash, & it's 80 degrees.
Then she cools down to 50*.
If she's really cold (mad) it snows!
When she gets moody, there are gray skies.
And then she gets weepy, & it's raining outside.
But when she's in a really good mood the weather is wonderful!

Mom, do you love me?
God loves you! He may not like some of the things you do. But he loves you!
Just like your parents love you. They may not like some of the things you do. But they love you! And, in a conversation I had with Anthony.....
Mom, do you love me?
Yes, son, I will ALWAYS love you!
What if I do something wrong?
I may like some of the things you do. But I will still love you!
What if I ....(There were several things, & I answered the same. Then....)
What if I kill someone?
I will still love you, son. I may not like visiting you in prison. But I will still love you!

Why? ....April Fool's Day
In sixteenth-century France, the start of the new year was observed on April first. It was celebrated in much the same way as it is today with parties and dancing into the late hours of the night. Then in 1562, Pope Gregory introduced a new calendar for the Christian world, and the new year fell on January first. There were some people, however, who hadn't heard or didn't believe the change in the date, so they continued to celebrate New Year's Day on April first. Others played tricks on them and called them "April fools." They sent them on a "fool's errand" or tried to make them believe that something false was true. In France today, April first is called "Poisson d'Avril." French children fool their friends by taping a paper fish to their friends' backs. When the "young fool" discovers this trick, the prankster yells "Poisson d’Avril!" (April Fish!)
Today Americans play small tricks on friends and strangers alike on the first of April. One common trick on April Fool's Day, or All Fool's Day, is pointing down to a friend's shoe and saying, "Your shoelace is untied." Teachers in the nineteenth century used to say to pupils, "Look! A flock of geese!" and point up. School children might tell a classmate that school has been canceled. Whatever the trick, if the innocent victim falls for the joke the prankster yells, "April Fool! "
The "fools' errands" we play on people are practical jokes. Putting salt in the sugar bowl for the next person is not a nice trick to play on a stranger. College students set their clocks an hour behind, so their roommates show up to the wrong class - or not at all. Some practical jokes are kept up the whole day before the victim realizes what day it is. Most April Fool jokes are in good fun and not meant to harm anyone. The most clever April Fool joke is the one where everyone laughs, especially the person upon whom the joke is played.
"The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year. "- American humorist Mark Twain

Snow....again!
Anthony, look outside. It's snowing!
O, come on! Not again! I'm sick of it! I'm ready to move to Florida!
Are you sure? We've really thought about it. You'd have to make all new friends.
I don't care! I'm ready for warm weather! Let's go!

Easter & Snow 1970
41 years ago Easter was March 29th. The day before it was 70*....... Sunday morning we woke up to 4" of snow! Mike & I lived in a little trailer on my parents' property; & we owned a 1960 Corvette. Well, we couldn't drive anywhere in that car; so my mom drove us to Mike's mom's house so we could get ready. We had no running water in our home & would go to our parent's houses to shower. (Oh, we were in love then. AND poor!)
Sorry! No pictures of the snow!

What Children Think
I will do what I want! You will do what I say! You will stay here & help me with my homework! I am the ruler of this house! I will not do what you say! You don't love me! I will not obey you any more! Anyone who stands in my way will be thrown out to the cats.
( I started laughing after the first sentence, which made him laugh & continue.)
We were doing schoolwork.

charlie-horse
Mike had a charlie-horse in his leg....
Anthony: "Why does Dad have a charlie-horse?"
Me: "Because he worked too long & hard today. And he needs some potassium."
Anthony: "He needs to eat a banana."
Me: "That's right! Where did you learn that?"
Anthony: "From a Duck Dodgers cartoon."
